The United Kingdom is set to progress with utilizing the total value of seized Russian holdings to bolster the Ukrainian military campaign, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this joint measure would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and compel Moscow to come to the table.

They clarified that the decision would be executed in close cooperation with the United States.

British sanctions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russia's assets since the Russian government initiated its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, previously, money provided to Ukraine using Russia's holdings had solely been sourced from gains and dividends accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their aim to advance efforts toward utilizing the complete amount of the immobilized Moscow's national holdings to conclude the conflict.

He added that additional restrictions in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on the Russian government.

This announcement follows European leaders gathered in the Danish capital last week to discuss employing frozen Russia's assets for a 140-billion-euro financial aid to Ukraine.

Recently, US President Donald Trump urged international partners to take or employ frozen Russian funds, based on media sources.

The total of seized Russian assets in the Europe is estimated to be approximately €211bn.

Russia carried out widespread missile and drone strikes across the Ukrainian territory on recently, leading to electricity outages in significant regions of the capital city, the city, and eight other regions.

A pair of individuals were lost their lives and no fewer than 20 people were injured in the strike, the Ukrainian government reported.

In a message on social media following the attack, Zelensky stated that the cynical and calculated attack focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What's needed is not mere statements but concrete steps - from the US, Europe, and the G7 - in delivering anti-aircraft weapons and enforcing penalties," he wrote.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a different message.

Also on Friday, Zelensky told reporters he would press Sir Keir to enter the PURL programme, under which Nato countries buy military equipment from the US to donate to Ukraine.

While praising the United Kingdom's firm backing for Ukraine, he said it should indicate firmly that it would engage in the system, as well as impose additional sanctions on Russia.
