England Coach Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's most recent Test for the Kiwis was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is still working through what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be available for the first Test because of his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which starts on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
Southee, 36, took up a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.
Commenting as the English team for the opening of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was announced, Southee said of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.
"We'll see what happens over the next little while."
English pace icon Broad had declared the Australia side as their "weakest squad since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over what to expect during the series, which starts on 21 November.
"In my view there's at any time a bad Australian cricket team," he remarked.
"The team's attention is squarely on what we're trying to do. I think the caliber of [the English] side that's heading out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
However, before the English team head to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
