Fans Urge Custody of Man Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the pop star are calling for that a individual who jumped a barrier and touched the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage depicts the individual from Australia shoving aside camera operators and lunging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a promenade flanked by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being detained", though court documents indicated that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is unknown if he was charged.
History of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram profile includes videos of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last December.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user wrote.
Followers Voice Worry Over the Star's Well-being
Several followers blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed suffering from PTSD after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another comment on Instagram.
A number of supporters also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while others demanded online networks to block Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande appeared surprised when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Numerous of attendees had gathered in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The film, to be released on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the popular theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely bond between two distinct witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a rosé sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of last year in the UK, and earned 10 Oscar nominations, winning a pair for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
