Iran is ready to resume atomic discussions with the United States on condition that it is approached with "dignity" and "respect", Iran's top diplomat has announced.

Abbas Araghchi stated exclusively dialogue worked, and disclosed fresh requests had originated from go-betweens to resume negotiations with the American leadership. He claimed Iran had zero secret atomic facilities, and Tehran was not yet able to allow the global atomic watchdog to visit attacked atomic facilities for security reasons.

Walking a Difficult Course

The foreign minister is navigating a difficult route since Iran does not want be perceived to be proceeding from a stance of weakness, and he consistently maintained that Iran had emerged more resilient defensively and emotionally from the Israeli-US attack on its atomic facilities in June.

He was talking at a defense forum in Tehran where he restated that Iran had "an inalienable right to process nuclear material on home soil that it will never give up" – the main reason of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Prior Discussions Suddenly Ended

The previous five rounds of discussions between the US and Iran were brought to an abrupt and acrimonious termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, targeted Iranian nuclear sites in a 12-day war that culminated with the American leader claiming the sites had been eliminated. Subsequently, European countries employed their authority to reimpose global restrictions, but Iran maintains they have not had a significant effect.

Perfect Agreement Offered

Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had reached a "perfect agreement" to the enrichment issue in prior discussions, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with American involvement could refine atomic fuel. The two nations would have been able to claim victory since home-based processing would have remained and the US could be assured that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been settled in the talks that American atomic experts could work within Iranian territory, but that was a reasonable assumption of the consortium proposal. Diplomats claimed repeatedly they had achieved a deal with Washington's diplomat Steve Witkoff only for the deal to disintegrate due to "opponents in the US".

Existing Situation

Iranian officials declared the cooperative arrangement was now withdrawn, but it seems very probable the suggestion could be revived in some form if discussions restart.

The US president recently claimed he had been obtaining communications that Iran sought to resume discussions, but privately Iranian officials state they are not yet obtaining clear proposals from America either directly or from key regional mediators, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, Oman and Saudi Arabia. The Tehran's diplomatic corps has been accused of non-responsiveness in the aftermath of Trump's direct instinctive approach, but Tehran says diplomacy is not part of a show.

Diplomatic Position

In his remarks to the forum, intended to portray the US as a controlling nation that abuses the concept of global regulations, Araghchi said the fortnight-long engagement demonstrated the clash could not be ended by armed force. He asserted the strikes commenced with a US demand for an unconditional Iranian surrender and ended with an absolute demand for a ceasefire.

Iran is assured the initial Israeli attacks were carried out with total Washington understanding and cooperation, making faith challenging to reestablish.

Negotiations Remains the Final Solution

The foreign minister declared: "Tehran was not the one that had deserted diplomacy; it was the United States and the European states that had consistently tried to impose their desires during the negotiations. Negotiations can still be alive and continues the primary resolution to resolve conflicts, but its standards, regulations and tenets must be adhered to."

Restoration and Reconstruction
