Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from his teammate by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
