The Japanese brewing giant Restarts Beer Production In the Wake of a Cyber-Attack

The company has gradually reopened manufacturing at each of its six beer plants in Japan subsequent to being forced to close them due to a cyber-attack.

Various prominent stores in the nation, such as convenience store chains, had warned in the past few days that they faced shortages in stocks of the beer after the hack impacted the brewer's supply chain systems in the country.

The firm is the top brewer in the nation, but it additionally produces non-alcoholic beverages and consumables, along with providing proprietary goods to other retailers.

The corporation also owns a British brand in the UK and global brands including Peroni, Pilsner Urquell and Grolsch. However, only the company's activities in the nation - which represent about half its sales - have been influenced by the incident.

Present Operational Condition

The company stated the restarted breweries in Japan were "yet to reach complete functionality", and that several of the drink manufacturing facilities that have gradually restarted were likewise not operating at complete efficiency.

It noted there were a further five beverage plants that "are set to restart gradually in accordance with shipments."

Each of the seven of its consumable manufacturing sites have recommenced functions, although they are also not yet operating completely.

The company explained the operational technology at the facilities onsite had remained untouched by the online incident, but it had been compelled to stop output because it was unable to handle purchases and distribution.
