The network's Top New Show of 2025 Gets a Significant Renewal for Two More Seasons.

In October of last year, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the network introduced a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as gentle and comforting, in the spirit of a animated take of a serene talk show. During a period often characterized by bleakness, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show follows three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who welcomed the series and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer."

Network Praise

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who found the show and supported its distinctly quirky style.

"All of you got behind this new show, praised it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about watching this charming family navigate their simple existence.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its current cynical streak. He traced this trend to various cultural shifts.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” noted Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we need to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa could potentially catalyze that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to enjoy the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is currently streaming on HBO Max.
