The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Selected the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure from Critical Role, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.

All in all, the intro looks stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that something was lost in the song choice.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional song composed by artist the talented musician. This piece originating from the official score of that title, the second release released by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I suspect that fans of the second campaign will appreciate its inclusion.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's intro fails to capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician the artist, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when cast member the performer wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the second campaign yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes in my opinion. It's an impressive composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the series will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be one of them.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from November 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are accessible on the audio platform and the video site.
