The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The effort aims to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in the autumn. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the performance was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of artists appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the industry. All participated in the benefit event, which managed to collect a significant sum for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a trio of talented individuals. The song showcases a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the initiative have emphasized that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a representative said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The context in the territory was described as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of buildings described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
