The Streaming Giant Casts Spot-On Star for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the major clash isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a adored, fan-favorite member has just been cast.

Netflix announced Tuesday that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bon Clay. Bon Clay has the ability to transform into an exact copy of any individual they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The actor, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a version of that character reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the live-action show, differing from the initial comic and anime.

Escola is joined by several other new cast members set to bring the organization to the screen, such as head Sir Crocodile, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as another operative, and a familiar face, who will appear as the lineup as the ruler of the desert kingdom.

Though this character is a major member of the organization, the individual won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Given the next season set to cover the Little Garden arc, this marks a notable change in the schedule of their first appearance, one that could suggest more adjustments to the narrative framework.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the part. In addition to their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

The platform’s adapted One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
